Taken a couple years ago (around 2007-2008). The lad is my nephew whom I altered an old pair of breeches to fit him in an a la slops style with an old weskit and a shirt of mine. All are period. The shoes he SO outgrew so now I;ll have to get him another pair.
This is one of his two pirate outfits for when he goes to Golden Age of Piracy events with me. The lad is enjoying the living history bit. ;)

Great outfit and photo! It looks like a screenshot from a POTC movie.
by the way, do you have any idea where I can find a pair of shoes like that?

Thank ye.
The shoes in this photo are the general cheap ones ye may find on eBay or some costumer online here. They are a great starter shoe, as they are cheaper than the more historical ones which are over $100. Do a Google search for "Colonial shoes" under the Images tab and there should be some that pop up. Take a look see to find out who still has them in stock. Most places sell out of them quickly. They can barely keep up.
Otherwise, if you want to go for the more pricy, check out Fugawee [link] , Jas. Townsend & Sons [link] , Sarah Juniper , Smoke and Fire, G. Gedney Godwin, Loyalist Arms, or you could go to my crew website (Pirates and Buccaneers of the Resurrection [link] and look under Other Ports, the Sutlers and see what sutler be a good fit.
I wish ye luck. ;)

Haha... more than ye know, lass! Plenty o' pirates I know in California. More in southern region rather than th' northern portion of the state, but the west coast is covered with good pirate portrayers. :)
